MGAWA and the WA Museum: share, reuse & recycle

MGAWA Free-cycle is a free service helping WA museums to share, reuse & recycle.

Museums Galleries Australia WA and the Western Australian Museum have been ‘free-cycling’ old display cases, cabinets, tables, mini fridges you name it in an attempt to reduce the amount going into landfill and give small and regional museums a chance to pick up some fantastic museum pieces.

We’ve run 3 rounds of the program in 2017 and had a huge response, from as far away as the Upper Gascoyne, Katanning, Cunderdin, York, Northam, Dowerin, Boddington, Kojonup and Guildford.

The Museum of Natural History in Guildford, now has a display case of their  taxidermist work and the Cunderdin Museum was able to recycle this comfortable chair (pictured), already been reclaimed by the office cat. Keep an eye out for more emails to see if you can reuse and recycle any items up for grabs.
